The Tūī by David Trubridge was added to the range of light shades by David Trubridge in September 2021, the Half rings of bamboo are woven into a basket form that would sit perfectly over a dining table, kitchen counter or equally hanging in a stairwell or entrance void… and cast spectacular shadows! Tūī are the real characters of Aotearoa’s native bush. They hurtle through the bush with drumming wing-beats, miraculously avoiding branches whilst maintaining their cool charm. Their song is like no other: a series of clicks, gurgles and resonant, bell-like notes…some off our hearing scale! They have two dangling white wattles on their throats and around their shoulders is a necklace of interwoven rings which is the inspiration of the Tūī light. Part of the David Trubridge range of kit set light shades made from sustainably grown bamboo plywood. The Tui kitset includes all parts for the shade, plus a suspension cord and E27 / Edison screw lamp socket. (Ceiling rose & lamp sold separately) Finishes available: Bamboo White Paint (two sides), Black Paint (two sides); Bamboo (on one side) with choice of Aqua, Black, Blue, Lime, Orange, Pink, Red or White. Paint colours are commonly faced on the interior of light shade.
